What is Red Yeast Rice?
Red Yeast Rice is a relative of yeast rice that is used for fermented food, sake,soy sauce and miso paste, and as its name implies, it is red in color. It has been used inChinese herbal medicine since ancient times. The "Ben Cao Wang Mu", a Chinese treatise on herbal medicine, says that Red Yeast Rice aids the digestion and reinvigorates the blood and strengthens the internal organs and refreshes the stomach.
Thus, Red Yeast Rice has been found to have such beneficial effects as reducing blood pressure and LDL cholesterol that raises arteriosclerosis.






PRODUCTION PROCESS:
* Monascus pilosus (IFO4520) is used in the process of inoculation and culturing.

Cholesterol-lowering effect of Red Yeast Rice (3P-D1, 3P-D2 & 3E-D20)

Red Yeast Rice naturally has HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, including Monacolin K, which has been associated with decreasing the level of LDL cholesterol.

In the volunteer test with using the patients of hyperlipidemia, when everyone took 4g of Red Yeast Rice every day, the average of LDL cholesterol decreased by 24% after 2 weeks, and by 32% after 4 weeks. Cholesterol-lowering effect of Red Yeast Rice was obtained at the Medical Department of Chiba Universtity.


Anti-hypertensive effect of Red Yeast Rice (1P-D & 1E-D)

On the basis of a large quantity of test data obtained through extensive research, we have confirmed that Red Yeast Rice is effective in reducing high blood pressure. Furthermore, Red Yeast Rice never has the side effects that the drugs have. You can use Red Yeast Rice in any food safely.
